COVID-19 Response

While you've been out of your buildings, we've been inside. TEI has been remained open throughout the pandemic, providing 100% servicing. Covid-19 may have changed our social interaction, but it has not changed the quality, nor the reliability, of our elevator and escalator equipment and services.

From the beginning of the pandemic through phased reopening and into the future, TEI has developed its Site Specific Safety COVID-19 Mitigation Program along with the Affirmation of Compliance that meets all CDC, New York State Department of Health, and New York City Department of Building guidelines. TEI will continue to lead with safety as our core value. As buildings reopen to welcome their customers, workers, and guests, we ask all of our stakeholders to assist in the effort to keep the riding public's transportation journey a safe and healthy experience.

Updated COVID-19 Operating Guidelines
When the pandemic hit, our operating guidelines were updated immediately to provide our employees with education and protocols to best protect them and our customers in the workplace. We will continue to both reinforce this knowledge and update best practices as it is delivered from local and state authorities.

Safety Steps Undertaken

• Self-monitoring for signs of symptoms of COVID-19 prior to entering any building
• Incident response policies
• Adherence to all NYS Government & NYC Department of Buildings mandates and social distancing requirements
• Supplying our employees with the appropriate PPE and hand sanitizer to ensure an optimal safe environment
• Established "work crews" for field employees, limited to groups of 2 to 4 per floor
• Work from home available to all non-field employees
• Headquarter office "flex and stretch" scheduling to limit in-office headcount

Strategies to Limit Potential Cross-Contamination Between Work Crews

• Coordination with vendors and others to avoid encroaching work zone until TEI crews are finished
• Physical barriers to act as fall protection barricades and screening of hoistway when required
• Perimeter guarding present at all laydown and lobby floor areas during material mobilization and rail installation
• Designated lunch and break areas, observing 6 feet social distancing and wearing PPE
• For those projects that are multi-tenant and occupied, TEI will meet with the general contractor and property management to develop alternate measures to be taken so the work can be completed safely and within CDC, NYS government and NYC Department of Building guidelines
