TEI Group Attends Annual Hard Hats Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral

On May 3, 2023, hundreds of New York City construction workers gathered for the annual “Hard Hat Mass” – a special Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in memory of their colleagues who tragically died on the job.

Sixteen chairs were placed above the pulpit steps, each holding a white hard hat, which symbolized the deceased. Each hard hat also had the name of the lost construction worker along with a red rose. Included in this group was also a hard hat honoring the lives of those essential workers who died from COVID-19.

Many TEI Group staff from construction workers and superintendents to leadership attended the mass in support. The mass was led by Rev. Brian Jordan, chaplain for the Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York. As they prayed, honored and remembered those non-union and union workers who lost their lives, they also emphasized the importance of adhering to NYS safety standards so all workers can return home to their families at the end of the workday.
